Who, what and why?
Having worked within the disability charity sector for over a decade, it became apparent that both adults and the families of children with disabilities or needs frequently asked for recommendations and suggestions as to support or services that would meet their particular needs. As a parent of a child with a number of diagnosis, I too am frequently asked for suggestions and advice based on my own experiences. Nearly everything ‘good’ in our lives and that of my child has come via recommendation from another who has similar conditions.
In my experience, if someone, something or somewhere makes the life of my child easier, I will use it time and time again. I will be cautious about trying other facilities etc in case they do not meet the needs of my child. So trusted recommendations based on the experinces of everyone else in our community really matter.
Needs Recommendation is an enterprise, created and managed by a mum who has frequently sought or shared recommendations from others who have needs, difficulties or disabilities within their family similar to her own.
